Sound has a special effect on our body and mind. We don’t only hear sound with our ears, but feel the sound and sensations in our whole body. Whether you’re aware of it or not, your body reacts to sound and its vibrations.
As a misophonist I’ve been having a difficult relationship with noise my entire life. I can only enjoy music when I’m alone and when it’s the only stimulus. Combined with social interaction and children, it’s an ordeal.
That is until I discovered Yoga Nidra and singing bowls - finally noise that provided a deep state of relaxation. A non-verbal way to connect with myself.
Sound vibrations are noticeable in every cell of your body. In a period of stress, your brainwaves will vibrate on a different frequency than when you’re relaxed. The strokes of a singing bowl, a tuning fork or a gong spread very powerful vibrations through the body. The human body is made up of 70% of water and that’s precisely the perfect conductor of sound. The body receives a very subtle internal cellular massage through resonance.
I followed a certified training Sound Healing with Alchemy crystal singing Bowls. These are advanced singing bowls, wherein colorful crystals, fine gemstones and precious metals - like 24 carat gold, silver and platinum -, are warmed up and melted with the quartz. They’re precious, uniquely produced and have the prettiest, fullest and richest overtones.
The gong stimulates the nervous system and tuning forks can be hold against specific parts of the body, whereby your muscles, tendons and joints relax and settle down. Because of the frequency of singing bowls, tuning forks and other instruments, it’s possible to bring our brainwaves (bèta state) back to a relaxed state (alfa) and even to a meditative or sleeping state (theta & delta).
Sound encourages to relieve from tension - both physically as mentally - and stimulates your body to heal. You don’t have to do anything during a sound healing. You can let go off everything and receive. Just be.
Organizing an event where you would like to introduce singing bowls? I’ll be happy to do a demonstration. For more information, please send an e-mail to info@nimzuandmore.be
“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears, but through every cell in our bodies.”
